THE TRUTHS ABOUT THE HOUSE

“Prawdy o Domu” performance opens the international festival of performing arts “Opowieści” performed by participants of master classes conducted by the VestAndPage duo. Several dozen people from all over Europe, in the era of the war in Ukraine and mass migrations, together sought the answer to the question – where, in fact, is our home?

Since 2006, German artist Verena Stencke and Venetian-born artist and writer Andrea Pagnes have collaborated as VestAndPage, a duo of performers, cinematographers, and curators of artistic events. They operated in the ice of Antarctica, at the foot of the Himalayas, in the vast Tierra del Fuego, in military enclaves or in prehistoric caves.

“We are facing a difficult time of war in Ukraine, Poland, a country that has become a new home for people seeking asylum here. Polish, Ukrainian, German, Italian, through migration to our interiors, analyzing our relationships, we want to answer the question: is the real home where we are or where we are going? Is home a place, my body, a memory, a feeling, a hearth? Is a home a matter of course or a job? Why did we come from a certain country?– Andrea Pagnes.
